What is chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a form of healthcare used worldwide. It is both a reactive and proactive method, used to treat a variety of symptoms in order to maintain optimal health. Practitioners are professionally qualified to diagnose, treat, and manage disorders of the musculoskeletal system.

After a thorough assessment of your symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle factors, your chiropractor can adjust your joints – predominantly your spine – to help alleviate strain to the nervous system and the body as a whole.

How does it work?

Asymmetry between the left and right sides of our body causes physical irritations on our nerves and joints, disrupting the nerve pathways which pass through these. Clear nerve pathways are vital to a fully functioning nervous system, with disruptions often manifesting in physiological and neurological dysfunctions.

These asymmetries are often caused by a range of physical traumas which affect our musculoskeletal system daily. From the time of birth these have a huge impact on our skeleton, determining our body’s equilibrium and the function of the nervous system.

Did you know?
Only 20% of all symptoms of nerve compression or dysfunction manifests as pain, meaning 80% of the reason to see a Chiropractor is not pain related*.
*Nerve compression can result in other physiological dysfunctions including weakness, difficulty with certain movements, numbness, tingling, or burning sensations.

Chiropractic adjustments can be used to regain symmetry, ensuring our body functions optimally and in unison. Your chiropractor will detect imbalances in your musculoskeletal system through visual and palpatory assessments. Adjustments are then performed to help correct these imbalances in order to restore nerve pathways and regain a fully functioning nervous system.

Benefits of chiropractic

Chiropractic adjustments provide an alternative mechanism for regaining control of your nervous system and achieving optimal health and well-being. It seeks to identify and correct the root cause of your symptoms, rather than provide temporary relief.

When pathways in your musculoskeletal system are clear for your nerves to send and receive messages, your body is able to connect with its natural healing abilities. Every part of your body – from your cells, tissues and immune system – relies on a correctly functioning nervous system.

What can chiropractic help with?

The most common reasons for adjustments amongst our patients are:
